Census Records have Adolph and Frances immigrating in 1854. His family settled in Centerline, near Detroit, MI. Adolph came to the Grand Rapids area to find farmland. Once the found a piece he would farm for the rest of his life in Wright Township, he returned to Centerline for a wife. It is told by Lizzie [Rasch] Armock (1.4.1.2) that he met sister Katherine and Mary Kaltz at a dance. Soon after, he married Mary. They came to Wright Township and lived in a log house on what is now Dickinson Street. Four sons and two daughters were raised in the large, wood-frame house that still stands today. Many relatives have said that neither parent ever got over the premature death of their daughter, Rosa. Dorothy [Rasch] Glick said that everyone was welcome in their house. It was a favorite stopping off place for her family. Uncle "Louie" was warm and wonderful. Mary always made room for another at the table or in a bed for overnight. He lost his wife when his family was young and never cared to marry again. It is said that he was seen visiting Helen's grave often at St. Joseph's cemetery in the town of Wright. Their farm was just east of his parents. Will's daughter, Dorothy, remembers running down to see her grandparents and the many sugar cookies Grandma made for them, with a raisin in the middle. "They were not small." Will was a very dedicated trustee on the board for the Berlin Fair, in the town of Marne. He seemed to live for that fair. His livestock had to be registered according to his daughter, Dorothy, who remembers writing the names down to apply for the registration. The Berlin Fair was a time to gather, compete, and enjoy company with other farmers in the area. The Berlin Fair is the longest, continuous fair in the state of Michigan. Will served as the township's justice of the peace. One of his main duties was to read fence lines. He settled disputes on where the property line was located. That was what he was doing, when he had a fatal heart attack, near Titusville, a small, now abandoned, town between Marne and Coopersville. Dorothy remembers her father as a good man. Catholic Father: William Robert Rasch (1868-1941) Mother: Helen Veronica Finkler (1873-1908)Notes: Bertha received her early education at St. Joseph School in Wright, and entered the Dominican Sisters at St. John's Home in Grand Rapids on September 8, 1918. On March 19, 1919, Bertha received the Dominican habit and the name, Sister Vincent Ferrer of St. Dominic. For over 60 years, Sister Vincent Ferrer taught the elementary grades in schools throughout Michigan including Bay City, Melvindale, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Taylor and Pewamo. She was superior and principal in four different schools. She was assigned to the House of Studies in 1979 where she remained until February 10, 1983, when she moved to Aquinata Hall because of failing health. Sister Vincent Ferrer was remembered for her fun-loving and adventurous spirit. She loved to travel the world with her sister, Dorothea. She traveled to Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, as well as Florida and Michigan. Dorothy started teaching in Grand Rapids, off Barton St., but soon came home and taught a few years in Wright Township and lived with her father again. Then she went to Battle Creek to teach elementary school, and met a man who had taught on the islands of Hawaii. She went to Maui and taught. In 1933 she married George Glick. She later taught school in San Diego. While teaching in Hawaii she travelled extensively throught the Pacific. After retiring in 1963, she traveled and grew roses, lilies, and tropical flowers in an expansive garden surrounded by 28 fruit trees.Spouse: George B.
